Fit labels sound precise but vary from brand to brand. What matters is the shape each one is trying to create and whether it matches your body and routine.
Slim fit
Cut closer through the chest, waist and arms, with a tapered body that reduces excess fabric. It gives a sharp, modern line and works best on lean to athletic builds. If you sit for long hours or carry more through the middle, slim can feel restrictive.
Regular fit
The balanced middle ground: room to move without looking baggy. A regular fit suits most builds, layers well under a jacket and stays comfortable through a long day. For many people it's the sensible default.
Classic fit
The fullest cut, with a straighter body and more room through the chest, waist and sleeves. It's comfortable and forgiving, but can look boxy when tucked in, so it's better for relaxed settings and warm weather.
How to decide
- Athletic build with a narrow waist: slim fit
- Average or mixed build: regular fit
- Broad frame or a preference for room: classic fit
- In-between builds or hard-to-fit proportions: made-to-measure
A good fit isn't the tightest one you can button. It's the one that still looks sharp when you sit, reach and move.
